SAVANNAH - Catherine Reardon Vaden, 95, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2013. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 57 years, George Irvin, as well as her sister, Mary Agnes Gunderson, brothers, John M. and Thomas P. Reardon, and her niece, Mary Agnes Luxton.
Catherine, who was affectionately known to her family and friends as "Snookie", was born in Savannah, GA on September 19, 1917 to John and Kate Reardon. She loved being around the water and during her younger years enjoyed driving in sports car rallies. She spent many years working for Goethe Distributing Company.
She is survived by her younger brother Robert H. Reardon and his wife Barbara. Survivors also include her nephews Robert Wendy of Richmond, VA, John, Tony Karen, Mike Dale, and Thad Theresa Reardon of Savannah, GA, her niece Cathy Reardon of Atlanta, GA, as well as her nieces Susan Durham Tommy, Mary Kate Luxton Somers and nephew Jimmy Luxton, in Florida, as well as many great nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her dear friends Janet Goethe and Juanita Williams, her long-time friend and caregiver.
Throughout her long life, she gave of herself lovingly and freely to her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, The Rev. Joe Smith, celebrant.
Interment will follow in Catholic Cemetery.
